Key features

  • Model with long, blonde, wet hair.

    Style from wet

Straighten and dry hair – at the same time. The Dyson Airstrait™ straightener is engineered with three pre-set temperatures – 80°C, 110°C and 140°C – to take your hair from wet to natural straight, with one machine.

  • Model with long, blonde, dry hair.

    Refresh from dry

Touch-up or refresh your style from dry hair. Switch to Dry mode on your Airstrait™ and style at pre-set temperatures of 120°C or 140°C. Alternatively, use the optional Boost mode for maximum styling impact.

  • Close-up of model using the Dyson Airstrait on a tress of hair.

    Intuitive airflow

Airstrait™ technology self-detects when hair is between the arms and automatically reduces airflow when it's not – for quieter, comfortable and more efficient styling.

  • Close-up of the Dyson Airstrait LCD screen, with animations.

    LCD screen

High-definition colour display shows airflow and temperature settings, for easy reference when styling.

  • Close-up of the Dyson Airstrait lock feature.

    Root drying mode

Slide the button to lock and unlock the arms of your machine. Use with the arms locked to gently pre-dry hair at the roots. Create added volume from the roots before styling the ends of the hair from wet.

  • Close-up of the Dyson Airstrait LCD screen, showing the auto-pause animation.

    Activate auto-pause

After three seconds of inactivity, your Airstrait™ will automatically pause to conserve energy. Airflow will re-activate once you move your machine.

Pioneering Dyson technology

  • A detailed cutaway view of the inside of the Dyson Airstrait straightener, showing the heating system.

    Intelligent heat control

Extreme heat can damage your hair, so the Dyson Airstrait™ has been engineered with the same intelligent heat control technology found in Dyson Airwrap™ and Dyson Supersonic™, to measure airflow temperature 16 times per second, protecting hair quality and shine.

  • A side-on view of the Hyperdymium motor, with airflow visualised in bright blue.

    Dyson Hyperdymium™ motor

At the heart of Airstrait™ technology is the Dyson Hyperdymium™ motor. Inside the machine is a 13-blade impeller spinning up to 106,000rpm, propelling 11.9 litres of air through the machine per second. This generates a controlled, high pressure airflow to straighten hair as it dries - without hot plates.

More than a plug

The PRCD plug (Portable Residual Current Device) is engineered for your safety and comfort when using the Dyson Airstrait™ straightener. Dyson engineers designed the plug to include key electronics elements in it. By moving this to the plug, it removed weight and bulk from the machine itself. The plug is currently Dyson's best solution to enable a lightweight and compact product that enables wet-to-dry straightening.

  • A PRCD plug is shown front on with its test and reset buttons visible

Why this appliance needs a PRCD

The straightener’s powerful air-drying technology for wet-to-dry use requires a PRCD plug to test the electrical current for safety.

Such plugs are a necessity for electrical appliances operated in proximity to water or water vapour.

  • A finger is shown pressing the reset button on the PRCD plug

What this means for your styling routine

Plug your PRCD into an electrical socket closest to where you will operate your machine. Press TEST and RESET every time before you use your Dyson Airstrait™ straightener. This step is required for user safety.

Comprehensive instructions can be found in your online user manual.

PRCD colours and button positioning might vary.

Frequently asked questions

Although the machines are designed for different styling purposes, both utilise Hair care technology to minimise heat damage. The Dyson Corrale™ straightener is engineered with manganese copper alloy plates to flex around and gather the hair while heating, creating either sleek, smooth styles or bouncy curls. The Dyson Airstrait™ straightener uses powerful, directional airflow to provide a natural straight style from wet to dry without the need for extreme heat.

The Airstrait™ can be used to dry and style hair from wet – simply set the machine to Wet mode and select from a pre-set temperature; thicker hair types may require a higher temperature and airflow. Alternatively, Dry mode – which applies lower airflow – can be used to refresh dry hairstyles.

When hair is wet, its hydrogen bonds are more pliable and easier to 'reset'. Dyson engineers have used this knowledge to design the Airstrait™ with high-velocity blades at a 45-degree downward angle to simultaneously dry and style hair – without extreme heat.2

Yes, you can use the Dyson Airstrait™ to touch-up and refresh your style from dry. To use on dry hair, select Dry mode and choose between the pre-set temperatures, depending on your hair type and intended style.

Your Dyson Airstrait™ will enter auto-standby after five minutes of inactivity when the arms are left open, or three minutes if the arms are locked. The LCD screen will turn off and you'll need to press the power button to turn the machine back on.

Your straightener has been precisely engineered for styling at the voltage of the country in which it was purchased. This allows it to run at optimum performance. As voltage varies from country to country, please follow the guidance on usage in the guarantee section of your user manual.

To maintain optimum performance, your Dyson Airstrait™ straightener needs regular care and maintenance. We recommend cleaning the filter once a month. Debris should be wiped from the outer filter cage and from the inner filter mesh using a soft, dry cloth.

Yes, we recommend regular cleaning of your machine for optimum performance. You can find detailed instructions on how to clean and deep-clean your filter, tension bars and diffusers in your online user guide, on our Support pages or on your MyDyson™ app.

This is an additional safety element, designed especially for the Dyson Airstrait™ straightener given its powerful and direct wet-to-dry function.

H 71mm x L 150mm x W 41mm and 310g without the cable and 457g with the cable.

Yes, the PRCD plug is a fixed integral part of the Dyson Airstrait™ straightener. If travelling, check the voltage of the country matches that of your Dyson Airstrait™ straightener. You can find the voltage for your appliance in your user manual.

Engineered by Dyson to keep you safe when using your machine, the PRCD plug not only tests your electrical current, it also houses other crucial electronic elements which would otherwise have to sit in the machine itself. So, while the plug is larger than a traditional plug, the different components within it are currently the best solution to provide a lightweight, compact machine for comfortable styling, wet to dry.
