Essential maintenance

Watch our video guides on how to keep your machine performing at its best.

  • The filter of the Dyson V9 vacuum is rinsed under a stream of water.

    How to wash the filter

Microscopic dust can accumulate in your filter and affect its performance. We recommend washing it at least once a month, or more frequently if needed. After it’s clean, always leave to dry for 24+ hours.

  • The Dyson V9 vacuum is emptied hygienically in one smooth action.

How to empty and clean the bin

Overfilling the bin can reduce suction and affect the accuracy of your vacuum’s particle count. To maintain suction, empty the bin as soon as debris reaches the MAX marker.

  • A Dyson owner checks their V9 vacuum for blockages.

    How to check for blockages

Your LCD screen will alert you if there’s a blockage in your machine's airways. On-screen animation shows you which airflow pathways to check.

Washing the Submarine™ wet roller head

To maintain performance, it’s important to wash the wet roller head after every clean. Simply detach, wash with cold water, leave to dry, and reattach.

  • A replacement roller for the Submarine wet roller head.

To maintain the optimum performance of your machine, replace the roller on your Dyson Submarine™ cleaner head every six months.
